Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that primarily affects the face, causing redness, flushing, bumps, and visible blood vessels. It usually sets in around 30-40 years of age. It begins with a pink blush that doesn’t go away. Anything that dilates blood vessels in the face can lead to a flare-up of Rosacea.
Symptoms of Rosacea
include facial redness, swollen red bumps, eye irritation, burning or stinging sensations, and thickened skin.
The exact causes of rosacea are not fully understood, but factors such as genetics, environmental triggers, and abnormalities in the immune and nervous systems may contribute to the condition. Other causes are nutritional deficiencies, low levels of stomach acid, gut dysbiosis, constipation, high fat diet low in fiber, hormone imbalance, reaction to synthetic hormones as well as food allergies.
Foods to avoid include spicy foods, hot drinks, alcohol, and caffeine, as these can trigger or worsen symptoms.
Nutritional recommendations for rosacea include eating a healthy, balanced diet that is rich in anti-inflammatory foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and healthy fats. Digestive enzymes at each meal. B complex 50 1 x 2 times daily with meals, B12/ folate 1 tab 2 times daily with meals, burdock root , take 300 mg 3 times daily and probiotic at night.
